Again..back to China! One of my favourite cities in Asia is Shanghai! The city is the symbol of modern China, but when exploring it more deeply you can find something traditional too. The city is mixture of different lifestyles and lifestories. Only few blocks away from Pudong you can find local people living "not so stylish" life. Shanghai has many stories to tell and I totally fell in love with this city. Time to time, I have been dreaming about living in Shanghai. It would be unique and unforgettable experience. But before moving there it would be nice to travel there again! ;)
My favourite places in Shanghai:
1. The Bund
The Bund is regarded as the symbol Shanghai. This famous waterfront has been Shanghai's center since the 1800's. The buildings represent different architectural styles, for example Baroque, Classicism and Gothic. Take a walk along the Bund Promenade where you can be amazed by the beauty of the city. The promenade can be very crowded Especially go here after sunset. The lights of the city are spectacular in the evening.
When sitting in the Bund area police men came to warn us to be extra careful because there were many pickpockets moving in the crowds. That was a little surprise for us. Usually, Asia is one of the safest places to travel. We also saw one robbery in Pudong, but luckily the robber was too fat to run so police men caught him very quickly (haha).
2. Pudong
If you know something about Shanghai, you know at least the Pudong business district. The picture taken from the Bund shows you the famous skycrapers like Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center and Jin Mao Tower. And more skycrapers are built.
3. 2010 World Expo area
We ended up to World Expo area when we took wrong subway and found ourselves from dead quiet area. Tthe World Expo area was creepy. Huge buildings everywhere but no people. It felt like the are was abandoned. We decided to visit
that was also very quiet place during the day. Many conserts have been held there. There's seats up to 18 000 people. Also there were a cinema and indoor skate park. Very cool building. After all, I'm happy that we got lost and found this place.
4. Yu Garden
Crowded, but nice. Very beautiful scenes. The garden is also called "the Garden of Happiness". The garden is located near City God Temple and you can get there easily by metro.
5. Wandering around without direction
My favourite part of traveling! Getting somewhere without directions! And I very good with that! :D This is the real way to find random new places and get to see something that normal tourists wont' see.
6. Fuxing Park and French Concession
It is sad that I don't have any photos from Fuxing Park. This is the place you have to see in Shanghai. It is authentic and peaceful. Fuxing park is located in French Concession area that is very beautiful and picturesque. People were relaxing, drawing, reading, playing and doing tai chi. After walking around the whole day, this is the place you can just sit and watch chinese life.
French Concession is full of nice streets to wander. The area is also full of nice restaurants, bars and little stores.
7. EATING! Last but not least
All you need is love...and food!

July is not the best month to travel to Shanghai, because it can be extremely hot there. When we were in Shanghai the sun was shining from the blue sky and temperature during the day was around 40'c degrees. I can't even explain how I felt during those hot days. I almost melted away.
