It's the time of the year in Finland when there's less than 8 hours of daylight (in Southern Finland) per day. When you go to work it's dark and when you're leaving from work it's dark. Most depressing month of the year is here! Unfortunately we don't even have snow yet so you can say it's very grey November. But enough with complaining!
3 years ago we decided with my mum that we have get out of here in November. When thinking the options where to travel, the first warm country that came up our minds was Egypt. Unfortunately during this winter the package tours have been cancelled to Egypt because of country's current situation.
In November the temperature outside can 25 - 30'c degrees during the day, but the evening can be a bit chilly. Egypt was a good option for us, because we wanted to do some snorkeling and focus on beach holiday and maybe do a trip to somewhere. Well, we spend 3 days snorkeling in the beautiful Red Sea, visited the beduins camp in the desert and of course did a lot of sunbathing.
The easiest option was to book a package tour from Finnmatkat. Because we wanted a peaceful and clean destination we chose to stay in El Gouna. El Gouna is a small tourist resort, 20km from Hurghada. There's nothing real there, the town is made only for tourists. But it's very beautiful with its canals. El Gouna focus on watersport activities, especially scuba diving, snorkeling, waterskiing so it's ideal destination for those who love water activities.
Our hotel was Sultan Bey hotel that is 4- star hotel. Hotel was nice, nothing special. It's located in the city centre. Hotel has a nice pool area and spacious rooms with A/C. Breakfast was tasty, but the dinner was quite poor. Zeytuna island with nice beach was near. It's one of the most favourite beaches in El Gouna. There's free water taxi service from the hotel and it takes only 5 minutes to get there.
And here comes to photo gallery from our trip! Enjoy!

If you go to Egypt or somewhere in Africa, you have take a trip to the desert. It's something different. Silence everywhere (and of course sand everywhere). Eating in the beduin camp was also nice experience.
Although the desert was very nice experience I liked more exploring what's in the Red Sea. 3 days snorkeling and enjoying the beautiful views somewhere in Red Sea was my favourite part of the holiday. Also my mum loved it.
We visited the city of Hurghada one afternoon and the 3 hours we spent there was too much. I didn't like it at all. It was noisy, dirty and unpleasant place.
Hurghada was like a huge trash can
El Gouna is much more beautiful
This year I can only dream about beach vacation in November and watch the darkness outside from the window. I think there should be a compulsory holiday week for every Finn in November so we could travel somewhere to see the sun. If you have the chance to spend your holiday in November, DO IT and do it somewhere faraway. I love Finland and the winter. But this month is something I can't handle with. That's why I started this blog. Now I can go through all my sunny pictures and share them with you! :)
